CCC Vittel Water Children's MTB Winter Series 2003/2004 |
|
Race 3, Val de la Mare, St. Ouen, 21 December 2003In the 3rd race of the CCC, Vittel Water U12 mountain biking series, last weekend, Joshua O’Donoghue-Rowe extended his championship lead with a faultless performance in the 8 – 9 year olds class. Toby Luce came in a strong 2nd though he had to work hard for this position after a bad start. In his first race of this season, Charlie Hubert finished in 3rd place. Conditions were good at Val de La Mare, a course with many tight turns and gruelling up-hill climbs. In the 10 - 11 year olds age group, Adam Le Cheminant, once again gave superb performance, finishing well clear in first position. A very good ride by Kurt Dingle earned him a safe 2nd place. Behind the 2 leaders there was some exciting racing , firstly between Matthew Coote and Rory Hidrio, both fighting for 3rd position, and this showed Coote coming out ahead. Then Samuel Luce and James Gibaut who were battling for 5th. Luce took this position from Gibaut in lap 3 and maintained it to the end.

A shorter course was completed by the younger competitors and the closest race of the day was the 5 years and under class. Harry Garnham had an excellent start, but unfortunately his chain came off and he finished the first lap in 4th place. Samuel Kermin proceeded to take first position, until the last lap when Garnham had caught up. It was then a race to the finish line, with Garnham just taking the win from Kermin. Another close race followed in the 6 & 7 year olds class. There was nothing in it between the two front riders, Stephan Kermin and Adam Trotter. In the 3rd lap, however, Trotter’s steady riding earned him the lead, which he maintained to the finish line. Kermin took 2nd and Demri Mitchell rode a good race, which earned him 3rd place. Matthew Rayson, who had an unfortunate crash on the first bend, did well to catch up and finish in 4th place. Class 5 years and
