Summer Mountain Bike Series 2005
|
|
Race 3, St. Ouen's Mill26 June 2005Sponsored by Lawrence de Gruchy Cycles |
In complete contrast to the weather 2 weeks previously, the 2 hour mountain bike race was run in dry dusty and very hot conditions.
Kieron Mills was in action despite a serious crash in the UK the weekend before. He showed true grit and determination to ride a strong race leading from the end of lap 1 to the finish 12 laps later.
Mills said after the race ,”
I felt good and strong whilst racing, but now its over I can feel the stiffness
returning to the muscles”.
Fellow Island Games rider James Patterson finished second over coming a
couple of falls on a tricky downhill section.
Veteran rider Bruce Dingle won
the class easily, Second went to Colin Malzard, despite stopping to fix
a puncture.
Ladies winner was again Barley Jackson, with newcomer Angela Vibert taking
second place,
Phil Le Brun despite a poor start worked his way through to take another win in the sport class followed by Christian Guegan having a return to form to finish second. Fourteen yearold Rhys Hidrio finished 4th having moved into the sport class early to gain more experience.
A very depleted schoolboy class saw Rory Hidrio finish second behind Robert Coutanche.
