CCC Vittel Water Children's MTB Winter Series 2005/2006

Race 7, 2 April 2006, Mont Rossignol, St. Ouen

The last race of the U12 mountain bike series began with two of the overall titles already decided and the other two to be settled.

In the 5 years and under age group, Luc Mont Petit took the title in his first season of racing and won the race with Jack Lutz in second and Be Le Rougetel in third place. Second overall position was awarded to Mark Boarer and third to Jacob Vincent, both of whom have raced consistently throughout the winter. Eloise Dorans was the first girl in the overall standings from the series.

Harry Garnham was likely to win the 6/7 year overall class, regardless of his position in this race, but, like Mont Petit before him, he took his chance, went to the front and maximum points from this race. Michael Milner finished second in the race and series, with Hayden Bishop third on the day and Sammy Kermin picking up the trophy for third overall.

The afternoon started with a promise of a hard fought race between sisters, Charlotte and Olivia Pollard, who began with only one point separating them in the overall standings. Charlotte began aggressively to get a good place, finishing 5th in the race. Olivia was unfortunate to suffer a fall during the race, which saw her retire and in the process, the girls title being awarded to Charlotte.

Steffan Kermin had already won the 8/9 year age group title before the racing began, but again took the opportunity of showing everyone else why he’s won. He went to the front of the field from the start and stayed there to the finish line, ahead of Hugh Percival and Nikita Connan in second and third. Matthew Rayson finished in second place in the series results with Nikita Connan being awarded not only the trophy for first girl in her age group, but also third in the overall series.

The final age group, 10/11 years, had already been won by Rikki Knowlton, giving him the margin to fulfil other commitments. In his absence, Samuel Coutanche scored his third race victory of the season and securing third overall position. Joshua O’Donoghue finished in second place and was also awarded third overall, whilst Jonathon Harris had his best result of the winter, finishing the race in third place.
