Race 1, Val de la Mare: Summer Mountain Bike Series 2006

Race 1 was held in very hot conditions at Val de la Mare, here the championship contenders soon showed their pace.

Early race leader was veteran Bruce Dingle, but on lap 2 was passed by elite riders Mark Le Sueur and Ian Lelai, who soon pulled away from the rest of the field, to finish 1 st and 2 nd respectively. Dingle gained 3 rd overall from leading sport rider James Olivier who finish in a strong 4 th place. Jim Connolly showed a return to form and took second in the sports in front of the young Rhys Hidrio.

Super vet winner was Simon Slaffer showing age is no barrier and beating many younger competitors.
