The dry clear cold breezy conditions of Saturday had completely disappeared by the time CCC’s two-up time trial got underway early on Sunday morning at Red Houses. The wind had dropped, it was grey overcast and the road surface quite damp. Surprisingly, the weather had little effect on the riders' enthusiasm and a total of 41 competitors in a mixture of pairs and singles completed the event.

The quickest duo around the testing Island Games time trial course was the CCC’s Steve Grieg and Mike Harris in an eyebrow raising time of 53:29, with the CCC/VSJ pairing of Chris Spence and Sam Firby battling to stay in contention with 54:12 in second place. The contest for third place eventually went to a couple of lesser known names in the shape of the CCC’s Steve Goaziou and Dave Jardine ahead of another CCC combo in the form of Ali Cann and Tony Richomme by a mere two seconds at 56:17 and 56:19. First VSJ team was Andy Munns and Steve Scotcher just ahead of club mates Jim Garrett and Russell Crowder with veteran set of Bob Cabot and Dave Le Breton claiming 7th place. First time team of Robin Ovenden and Mark Wanless rode creditably to 8th place just outside the hour.

The singles event was won by Colin Perry in just over 62 minutes with Dougie Smith second and Gary De Gruchy third.
