The opening time trial of the season gave the first opportunity
for most riders to see how the winter training would pay off in
a competitive event. (Although for some of us, it was the start
of this year's training).
Being an Island Games year, all the hopefuls (well the men) will
have been keeping a close eye on their "rivals" for
the five places and on today's event, the selection committee
look to be in for a difficult time.
Wet roads and blustery conditions didn't make the going easy
and on the exposed section around Corbiere and all along the Five
Mile Road it was particularly blowy.
No surprises for first place as Steve Grieg was fastest in a
time of 48minutes, 42 seconds, closely followed by an excellent
ride by Dave Jardine. Glyn Wilkes (pictured) produced a great
time in his first ever time trial.
