After a gap of approximately ten years the Caesarean Cycling Club
held a Boxing Day time trial.
Over thirty riders took part in the “CCC Open Charity Five”
on what was a bitterly cold, and windy morning at La Pulente.
Ali Cann rode the course in the fastest time, proving “base
mile training is best at this time of year” training, is indeed
the best. Two tandems took part, the first ridden by Gary de Gruchy
and Dennis Rainbow. Both riders were suitably dressed as Father Christmas.
The second ridden by father and son, Robin and Max Ovenden who failed
to beat 72 year old grandfather Brian Ovenden. This is believed to
be the first occasion in the club's long history that three generations
of the same family have ridden in the same event.
£225.50 has so far been collected towards the Christmas Appeal.
