Tuesday saw the first CCC evening race of the 2006 bike racing season, and the first of the Mark Pickford Time Trial Series, with a win for Commonwealth Games rider Sam Firby in a course record time of 10:22. Held on the Five Mile Road, the out and back course meant the riders had a tail wind heading north but a strong head wind on the return leg. The only other person under the 11 minute mark was Vince Peron in 10:56.

Further down the field Noel Hayden's natural strength powered him to his first sub 12 minute time with 2 seconds to spare. Chaz Knight on the other hand is still recovering from recent injury and has yet to reach the standard he set last season so should improve in subsequent races in the series. Towards the back of the field   junior Nicole Hubert's effort was rewarded by a 3 second lift off the bottom of the results table.
