Amy wins first in Time Trial Series

James Amy is continuing his good run of form with a decisive win in the first of the Caesarean Cycling Club's Time Trial Series, sponsored by Mark Pickford's Cycle Shop.

The promise of a balmy evening's bike racing heralded by the fine weather all day on Tuesday was wrecked by heavy showers and blustery winds during the evening. Later riders had to cope with standing water on parts of the five mile course, from La Saline to Barge Aground and back, along the Five Mile Road. Despite the conditions, this first event of CCC's Time Trail Series, which includes a total of six races, attracted a field of over 40 riders.

Caesarean Cycling Club's Amy clocked in under 11 minutes, with a time of 10:48, as did Ali Cann, also of CCC, who finished second, some eleven seconds behind. Stephen King of Velo Sport was the first veteran home, with an impressive time of 11:11, just ahead of CCC's Dave Mayman, at 11:17, who continues his strong start to the season. First junior, Robert Coutanche put in a very strong performance finishing only two seconds behind Island Games reserve cyclist Adam Wojtkiewicz .

The next event in the series, sponsored by Mark Pickford's Cycle Shop, is on 15 May from La Mare to St Catherine's and back.
