Honours shared
Honours were shared in the last of the
Caesarean Cycling Club’s Spring Five Mile Time Trial
Series with riders from all three of the Island’s
cycling clubs taking places on the podium. In joint top
spot were Kevin Pilley, from the Caesarean Cycling Club,
together with Adam Wojtkiewicz of Ocean Tide, both posting
a time of 11.07, with Mike Keighrey, of Velo Sport Jersey,
taking third, in a time of 11.19.
After the excitement of last
week’s 5m time trial,
racing against professional riders from one of the Tour de
Bretagne entrants Team Sprocket , the last of the Spring
Series was a matter of local club riders battling it out
for podium places. CCC veteran Kevin Pilley clocked his best
ride of the series and a personal best on the 5mile time
trial course, to finish level with Ocean Tide senior Adam
Wojtkiewicz, in 11 minutes and 07 seconds.
Velo Sport Jersey’s veteran Mike Keighrey showed his
continually improving form, after a return from early season
injury, to finish third, 12 seconds behind the leaders in
a time of 11:19.
JCA Youth Academy youngster Stephen Haley was, once again,
the quickest junior, bettering his fastest time this season
by five seconds, to finish in 11.40. And CCC’s Sarah
Henderson clocked her fourth win of the series as fastest
lady, in a time of 12.51.
For a change, riders did not have to contend with a
strong NE wind on the outward leg. Conditions were generally
calm, with a light SW breeze and a generally fine evening,
with an occasional dip in temperature as a result of a
lingering sea fret. [KP] |
