Island Games Selection Process

The JCA selects the squad for the Island Games. Riders are expected and encouraged to show commitment by racing off the island in events equal to the standard of competition at the Games. Performances off the Island will always be judged by the quality of the events and the number of riders taking part. Age related events will not be considered. All results should be sent to jca@ccc.je with a brief summary of the race.

Riders for all road events will be decided on Wednesday 27 April, following the Easter Stage Race and will include performances from last season and the current season. The JCA expects riders seeking selection to participate in the events listed below.

Ladies seeking selection are expected to race locally in Division 2.

Selection for mountain bike events will take place at the end of the Winter Series. Mountain bike riders will be expected to race in road events as a means of improving race fitness and tactical awareness.

Once selected, road riders will be expected to perform and ride as a team so as to obtain the best possible result in the Inter-Insular weekend and Town Crit weekend (subject to places being made available).

Riders may be dropped from the squad at the discretion of the JCA due to loss of form, illness or lack of commitment. All riders will have the right of appeal. Reserve riders may be selected but will not normally travel with the team.
