Three Caesarean Cycling Club members travelled to the south
of England to participate in the National 25 mile time trial competing
against the best riders in the UK. The event was held on the A31
near Farnham, Surrey on Sunday 8 June.
The ladies event was held in the morning under an overcast sky.
But with only a light wind Helen Goulding was able to make the
most of the good conditions to set a new personal best for the
distance of 1 hour, 3 minutes and 49 seconds and to finish in
30th place overall and second in her category.
By the time the men set off in the afternoon the wind had strengthened
considerably making personal bests unlikely but both Jersey men
posted excellent times given the conditions. Mike Harris was the
first of the two Jersey men to ride and completed the course in
a time of 57:55 to place him 60th overall and third in his category.
Steve Greig, setting off about half an hour later, posted a time
of 56:25 to place him 40th overall in what is always a strong
field in the mens event.
The mens event was won by Stuart Dangerfield in a time of 50:50
with Frances Newstead setting the best ladies time of 56:24.
The three would like to thank the Caesarean Cycling club for
its continuing
support
