Helen Goulding travelled to Bickerstaffe in Lancashire to compete in the National 25 mile time trial. The course was the D 25/3 and was fairly flat with a 5 mile section on country lanes at the start and finish and 15 miles on dual carriageway in the middle. There was some variability in the quality of the road surface but the most notable feature of the course was the number of roundabouts to be negotiated (13 in total). The event was well organised by the Southport CC. The women's event was won by Julia Shaw in a time of 58:41, the men's by reigning champion Jason McIntyre in 49:44 and the juniors' by Andrew Griffiths in 55:57. Helen finished safely in mid-table with a time of 1:04:56 |
