| CCC and VSJ riders were away at the weekend competing in
the Le Pierre le Bigaut cyclosportive held in Callac, Brittany.
Once again both clubs performed very well with some excellent
placings in the top few hundred riders. For many it was their
first attempt at the event and the experience to ride amongst
several thousand riders was quite something.
The event attracted some 6800 riders competing in both the 100km
and 155km event. On race day temperatures soared into the low
30 degrees with not a cloud in the sky along with a very rolling
course of some 4800 feet of climbing making this one of the bigger
and more difficult sportive events in brittany.
Ride of the day came from Chris Spence who finished 8th in the
sprint from a small select group that had broken free with some
30km left to go, Spence had broken clear with 5km's to go and
looked to possibly be on for a solo win but was brought back
with 2km to go and subsequently could only mange 8th in the sprint
for the line.
