Rudy Project Series 2011

Round 3 of the National 'Rudy Project' Time Trial series took place on 25th April in the testing hills of Cumbria. Conditions where cold and wet with a strong head wind for a majority of the course.

Allan Miler (Club President) rode one lap of the 16 mile circuit, but suffered a little on the hilly first half of the course due to some very poor road surfaces. Making the most of the long, smooth dual carriageway finish, he still managed a very credible 13th place in the veterans class. Robin Ovenden in the open mens class had a good first lap, and managed an even quicker second lap to finish 7th.

Round 4 of the National 'Rudy Project' Time Trial series took place on 9th May on the rolling roads of Nottinghamshire. Conditions were again could for this time of year with a strong north easterly wind. Allan Miler (Club President) rode one lap of the 13 mile circuit and finished in a great 5th place in the veterans class and a superb 2nd in the overall standing at the half way point in the series. Robin Ovenden in the open mens class once again had to endure two laps of the course at a distance of 27 miles. Conditions changed somewhat between laps as the wind increasing during the second lap. Finishing strongly on the last steep climb he once again managed to finish 7th, which puts him into a very strong 3rd place in the overall standing at the half way point in the series. Round 4 also saw Dan Lowthorpe, a fellow member of the Caesarean Cycling Club but riding under his home colours of Rutland CC, take part and finish a very credible 13th in the mens.

Both members are looking to race the entire Rudy Project series, in which Allan is currently sitting 2nd overall. Robin Ovenden is using the series as potential qualification and preparation for the Commonwealth Games later in the year, and is currently sitting 3rd in the overall series.

Both members would like to thank the Caesarean Cycling Club for their continued financial assistance and support.

Thanks to Robin Ovenden for this report.
