Latest update from Rhys Pilley

December was packed with track sessions as I trained towards my first competitive pursuit since January 2020. The velodrome is a great way to escape the Welsh weather although it is not always warm, leg warmers are a must have for sessions at this time of year. I have had some good consistency on the boards and was pleased with my performances on the 19th of December. I rode a time of 4:29 for the individual pursuit which is the same time as my PB. I wasn’t super happy with the ride and could have paced the effort better but a decent enough time to build on over the coming months. The second event of the evening was the kilometre TT, an event I haven’t ridden before. I rode a time of 1:05. This was a pleasant surprise especially as my start wasn’t great and my line even worse; so lots of improvements to be made. After some down time over Christmas, I have turned my focus to the national championships at the end of January. I hope to execute a better ride and have been working hard in the gym to improve my start from the gate. Another big thank you to Caesarean Cycling Club Jersey and Always Aim High Events for their continued support.
